Mid October !!!!

Well has time flown by or what!!!!! It is already October 16 !!! Sheesh !! Clark is now one! Becky is off of mat leave and back to work full time :(:( Hmm no more nice long phone coversations ! I have gotten quite a few projects done ! And that makes me very happy :) I am back to baking a bit, tis the season hehe :) Nothing better than fresh baked goods in the fall !! :) Let me see what have I completed ? A pair of socks for Hollie, a sweater for Dominick, only one doily, called Fans. I got all the stuff done that I wanted to make Clark for his first birthday, a hat, pair of matching mittens, a sweater with a froggie on the front, and a Superman sweater! All are matching so he can wear the hat, mittens and gloves with either sweater!!! Superman blue hehehe !!!!!
The Superman sweater turned out wonderfully but I feel the logo is just a bit small for the sweater. I think it was a hat logo pattern I used, live and learn !!! Well, and as it turns out the cuffs of the sweater are a bit small for our dear boy !!! Who has grown so wonderfully for a start as a preemie!!!!! Ssssoooooo, you guessed it !!! I am going to make my own dern Superman Logo so I can get the size I want and make a new sweater LOL :):):) Can ya tell I love to make things for the boys !!!!!Ohh and I made a hat for Dominick :) Pretty much the same as Clark's hat but 2 sizes bigger ISH :) And a pair of slippers for me !!!! :)
I have a ton of things more that I want to do :):):) I bought some really kewl cotton blend yarn, and have picked out a pattern to make me a tank type sweater !!!!! Jessica some socks !!!! I found a lovely argyle vest pattern for the boys!!!! I will be using Red Heart Lustersheen, I have all the yarn for that :):) It will be my first try with an argyle pattern. I want to make the vests as matching as possible so the boys can wear them at Christmas :):) heheheh
I have thoughts for another afghan for my couch as the other one I made recently is now on the back of the loveseat !! :) As well I have a ton of greens I think three shades.. hmm afghan !!! :) I have another afghan I started years ago I really should finish up !!! :) I want to start some more baby outfits...
I think that will keep me out of trouble a bit :) Ohhh Yes, and we got a new pup !!! Dexter!!! He is teething at the moment LOL Poor bugger ! He is a nice little dog, spoiled already of course. We got him the last week of August.
Ohh and I still have not smoked!!!! 8 plus months now :)

Clark and his Pumpkin Hat!!

Well I searched and searched and search patterns last week to make dear Clark a pumpkin hat for October !!!! But the gauge I worked out for the orange yarn I have and all the patterns on
the internet .. did not match ... soooo here is my little creation !!! :):)
The hat and stem are knitted and the eyes, nose, mouth leaves and curly thingys are all crocheted!!!! :)

Back in October??

Hmm Well it is September 3rd LOL And I guess I was supposed to come in for September!
But heck I was just out back enjoying our wonderful pool!!!
Twas a pretty chilly and wet summer :(:(
Well guess I might see you all in Oct? Err, hmm, unless the weather changes drastically LOL :)

Afghan !

Well I made an afghan for our couch !!! :) I did all of it in a variegated colour and the last 2 rows ISH in a dark brown! I had about half of it done and thought I would put it on the couch till I got another row of squares completed... and well just hated it LOL !!!!!
Sooo I took it apart and took the dark brown off of each of the 12 squares! I finished each of the 12 squares off in the variegated :) And used the dark brown to sew the squares together hmmmm I think I slip stitched it all together ... Just the effect I wanted :) I crochet a row of dark brown SC around the completed ghan .. and then a row of variegated SC and finished it off with another row of SC .. I was going to do the reverse sc but I did not like the look of it :)

Wow, am I ever a slow blogger !!!!! May 19th, it is now July 27!!! hehehe :):)

There is this Canadian Tire commercial :):) Where the hubby is sooo enjoying all his new outdoor type things... that he tells the wife he will come back in the house in September!
Thus, my hubby Terry and I joke about that !!!! telling each other that we will go in the house in September! hehe
And unless there is a really bad rainy day I guess...... I will see you all in September !!!!

More Doilies!!!

I finished three more doilies :)











This one sits on my coffee table :) It is called Stars, Fans and Pineapples!!!! :)
It pretty much matches my Hearts and Pineapples!!!! I made two of these, one for each end table!!!!


This doily is made from a pattern by Patricia Kristofferson!!!!! This is the first doily I have made from this designer!!!!! Her doilies are beautiful and very intricate !!


















This doily is called Innocence ! I am trying to use more *colour* in my doilies!!!! :):):) I usually just use white or ecru!!!! I gave this one to my Mother In Law.

A Couple of Doilies

A couple of doilies I finished this week !! :) These ones I am keeping for myself!!!!

My camera has been hiccuping lately so I was quite happy to get these pics off quick, sadly tho no staging :) LOL :) I was going to take a pic of the Hearts n Pineapples on the table it is sitting on .. but the camera died LOL rotten stinker :)

North Star Pinwheel is done in size 10 thread yellow and brown, 1.5mm hook and is about 24 inches :)
This one sits on a little table at the bottom of the stairs to go into our computer/ craft room :) Looks quite good!!! With kid n grandkid pics sitting on it !!!
I have not used a lot of colours in my doilies, usually ecru, or white!!! I am trying to expand my horizons !!! :)

Hearts and Pineapples is done in Ecru :) 1.5mm hook and is about 29 inches :):)
This one is sitting on an end table in my living room and I will make another one of these for the opposite end table ! :)

Here are my two Dear Hearts!!!!!! Clark and Dominick !!!!!! I think Dominick was totally tickled pink to have Clark sitting on his lap !!!!!! He put his arms around Clark and held onto him :)
It was the cutest thing ! :) :)
I can fully see them being good friends and total stinkers together in a year or three !!! :)

Last Two Pairs of Sox for now!

Well these pictures have been sitting here now for a week or two on my hard drive LOL !!!!! I swear since my surgery I am slowing down !!!! LOL The socks are done and given to Sarah and Dominick !!!! I have made two doilies since these pictures were taken LOL :) And started Hollie's socks, well the cast on row is done LOL :):) But it is a start :) And I have started another doily!!! It is a crochet-a-long doily from a crochet group I am in :) !!!!


These were supposed to be Clark's socks but I get over zealous hehehe and usually overdo things, thus these were too big and are now Dominick's!!! :):):) Which is ok, cause he loves the socks Gramma makes for him :)

These are Sarah's Sox !!! They are so so so soft and when I tried them on for fitting purposes !!! they were so so so comfy !!!!!!

Clark's New Hat n Sox!!!

Well I had started a pair of blue sox for Dear Clark but!!! I was over zealous and made them too big !!!! Sooo now I just need to make one more blue sock (which I have started) and then Dominick will have a new pair of sox!!! :):)

Sooo I started another pair of sox for Clark !!!! AND even got adventerous !!!! and made them in blue and white :)

My Grandsons!! :)

Well I am always knitting a little something for the grandbabies :) So I figured I might as well put up a couple of pictures of my dearheart grandsons !!!!!!

Here is Dominick! :) He will be 3 in July :) Him and I have a ton of fun together!! :):)

And, now we have a new little guy to add to all the fun and trouble Gramma n Dominick get into :) Hmm we could very well be the three musketeers! ?? :)
I will have a lot of help pulling the weeds out of my flower beds, hmm and maybe even a flower or two :):)






Our dear dear Clark!!! :):) He was born premature, this past October!!!!! But look at him now !!!! For his six month check up, he weighed in at 17 pounds 4 ounces !!! And his doctor is so very happy with his progress!!!!! Does not even seem like he was a preemie!

Doilies, Cigs and Snow !! :)

Well tis nine weeks today since I had my hysterectomy !!! :):):) Life is grand in that aspect :) As well tis nine weeks today since I smoked my last cigarette!!!!! :):) Sure hope life stays grand and I don 't go a reaching for that ole cigarette again LMAO :):):):)

Well I finished up a couple of doilies, hmm a couple of weeks ago, my gosh I am a bit slow of late hehehe hmmm what is that word... procrastinator!!! LOLOL Never been one of those before :) tis an intersting thing this procrastinator !!!!! LOLOL

The sun is shining today !!!!!!!!! Sooo magnificiently and beautiful !!! Cheering away all our winter doldrums !!!! This is one year where I am so so so sick of the snow ! Even tho it is slowly melting, tis surely not fast enough for me !!!! Our backyard is still full of snow and ice :(:( Dominick and I were just talking at the patio door this morning how we will go out and start taking care of the flowers and grass and the like once the snow finally leaves!!!!
Ok well I was talking and he was agreeing !!!! :):):)

The two doilies I made:

This doily is called Weekend Activity !!!! I will make another one of these :) They will go in mine and Terry's bedroom on our nightstands!! :):):)

This little beauty is called Doves in Flight ! I made it as a crochet a long for a crochet group I am in !!! :):) I will give this to Terry's Mom for Mother's Day :)

Lime Green Mom n Son Socks !

WOO HOOO I went to visit with Clark and Becky today !!!!!!

My goodness the little guy has grown so so much ! Hard to believe he was born so early ! (33 weeks gestation !) He is a total sweetheart! He is 5 months old now :):):)

Well I made some socks for Clark and his mommy :):) hehehe Same wool, same colour Lime green :):) Sooo now they can have matching feet ! LOL :):):):)

Now of course I need a picture of them wearing the socks :) Hmm wonder if I can talk them into modelling their socks and then pictures for my visit tomorrow :) :) hehehe :)

I am quite enjoying this sock knitting phase I am in !!! Presently I have cast on another pair of socks for Clark hehe :):):) A lovely blue !!! shade. I have a nice soy wool for Sarah, the first sock is almost complete :):):) As well I have some wool set aside for another pair for Dominick!!!! :):):) Then I will make Jessica and Hollie each a pair of socks! :):) Once ya start it sure is tough to stop hehe :):)

Sox Sox n More Sox !!

I have always wanted to learn how to knit socks!!!!! Well I had some extra time on my hands this winter !!!! Sooo I did some research, bought a few books, bout some sock wool, when it was on sale!!!! I already had a ton of double pointed needles !!! :):)
I amquite enjoying knitting socks!!!!!

Here is what I have done so far:

Here are my latest pair of socks!!!! This is wonderful wool to work with!!!!! :):) These are for Dominick!!! :)











This is the 2nd pair of socks I made ! :)
The first pair were for my grandson Clark
This pair for my grandson Dominick !!!!!
I made one sock of this wool, first, my test sock, it was too big for Clark and too small for Dominick !
But that is ok ! I can still make one more to go with it :) If I get around to it of course, to give to Clark before he may outgrow it hehe :):)
Hmm I already started another pair for Clark tho they will match a kewl cotton pair I made for his mom :):)


This little green set I made for Clark for Christmas !!!
Oh and for the hat I made big matching Tassles for each side of the hat!!!!
He looks so so so cute with it on !!!!





I just had to make a mathcing pair of socks for little Clark !!!!!!

Dominick got a red set for Christmas :):) And he too has mathcing socks now !!!! :):) There is nothing more fun than dressing up these little Grands !!! It is so so much fun :):)

Tablecloth and a doily !!

It is now 4 weeks today that I have not smoked!!!! Wooo Hooo !!!!

I started a tablecloth for my one daughter, Sarah, hmmm in august 2006!!!! I finally finished it!!!! I was saving it to give to her for her 25th birthday, next month. Today she was over visiting !!!! And what do I do ??? We are in the craft room, talkin and chasin after my little

grandson, Dominick !!!! I did not have the tablecloth hidden or put away, doh!!!! So what do I

do I grab it and show it to Sarah LOLOL :):) All this time and I did not accidently tell her what

I was working on, and now it is finished, just needs to be washed and ironed!!! And I open my

big mouth and tell her, and show it to her LOL Well she LOVES it so that is good :):):):)

It is very pretty :):) I am quite glad that she likes it :):)

Yarn !!!!! And the Moss Stitch

Well me and my moss stitch!!!! But it is so so quick and so wonderfully simple. You don't need a pattern, you don't really have to count rows, at least not if you are making an afghan or something ! :)

This is the pattern pretty much:
It is a multiple of 2 sts, plus 1, plus 1 ch.
Make your chain row.
1st row: (1 sc and 1 dc) in 2nd ch from hook, *Miss 1 ch, (1sc, 1dc in next ch)
Repeat from * to end of ch. Ch 1. Turn.
2nd row: Miss first 2 sts. (1 sc, 1 dc) in each dc to end of row. Ch 1. Turn.
Repeat the 2nd row.



Here is a layette I made a while back, for a little one called Dalton :) All done in the Moss Stitch except the hat and booties are done in ribbing, so they are a bit stretchier!!!
This yarn is Red Heart Soft Baby, Laddie Print, I do believe !!!!




The yarn I am using to make the new baby set I believe is also from Red Heart Soft Baby!
I am not sure of the colour name of this particular yarn !!! But it is quite lovely and quite
soft !!!! I am hoping to make a crocheted set and a knitted set!!!! I already made one knitted set with this yarn a while back! My daughter, Becky gave it as a gift to a co-worker!!






And then LOL :):) I am making an afghan for myself !!!! for my couch !!!!
Again, Red Heart yarn Super Saver in Painted Desert!!! With again, the MOSS stitch, go figure!!!



Now you might just be wondering !!!! What is wrong with this woman!!!! She has been crocheting
probably for 30 years, and knitting for probably 20 plus years. And she does not even know
the names or colours of the yarns she uses !!!!! Hmmmm!!!!

Well I can tell you why!!!!!! This little city here in Cambridge, Ontario, was started out as a textile town way back in the 1800's!!!! And it just so happens a lot of textile makings still goes on, much to my happiness!!!!!!! There is a little store called Cambridge Fibres, which is where I buy the bulk of my yarns. And when I say bulk, I mean BULK !!!!!! When I go shopping at Cambridge Fibres, I make sure I have at the vest least $12.00 in my wallet!!!! :):):) Which will buy me two pounds of yarn with some change left over LOL :):):)

Their yarns, from my research is mostly Red Heart !!!! and some TLC I am guessing!!!! One of these days I will remember and ask :) hehe :) Well the yarns are pretty much mill ends! Which is so so fine by me, as there is absolutely **nothing** wrong with mill ends!!!! I go in and can buy a bag of yarn for $4.99 !!! Plus tax of course, sadly :( . Now this $4.99 will get my ONE pound of yarn ONE Pound!!!!!!! That is 16 ounces!!!!!!!!
Usually there is about 4 *balls* of yarn per bag ISH :) Now if you go to the retail stores it is apporximately $3.50 to $5.00 per ONE ball of 6 or 7 ounces of yarn.
Sooooo Let me say if I was to go to the retail store and I wanted to get that ONE pound of yarn I would have to purchase at least 3 balls of yarn .. let's pretend they are $3.50 per ball (I think they are closer to $3.99 or more) .. so that is 3 ball for $3.50 each wow!!! That is $10.50
withOUT tax !!!! Well if I go to MY store (LOL which is what I call it) hehe I can get 2 one pound bags for $9.98 Heck I wonder where I am going to shop eh??????
Mind you, these bags I buy have NO labels, thus the guessing and researching of what type of yarn it is I am buying!!!! But heck with the internet and retail stores, it is not so hard to figure out.

Ohhh they also have some TLC Amore and TLC Baby Amore and Red Heart Baby clouds which are $5.99 per 16 ounce bag!!!
Needless to say this is my very very favorite place to buy yarn!!!! It is so so easy to go in there and literally go nuts with picking out yarn!!!!!
